Every Houston OBGYN will spend quite a bit of time discussing birth control options with women. One complaint that commonly comes up is the time that it takes to keep up with standard birth control pills. Some women admit that they are simply too lazy or perhaps too busy to pop the bill every day. Luckily, there are some easier birth control options that don’t require daily action.
Arm Implants
Birth control can now be implanted right into the arm. Small cylinders containing birth control are inserted under the skin on the underside of the arm. This allows the birth control to leak into the system gradually over time.
Depo Provera Shots
Birth control can be as simple as making routine appointments to get a shot from an OBGYN. All the lazy or busy woman has to do is show up once a month to get the shot.
Diaphragm or NuvaRing
Both of these devices are placed inside the vagina, covering the uterus. They are designed to stop sperm from getting to a woman’s eggs, thus preventing pregnancy. These devices are very popular with women who can’t remember a daily pill, but they still have to remember to use spermicide every time they have sexual intercourse. There are still some benefits without the spermicide, but it is needed for complete protection.
